The programme will provide high quality training for 20 volunteers who would like a career path in Social Mentoring. Volunteers are able to qualify starting at NVQ Level 2 and progress to the Certificate for Social Mentoring and Values Guidance that is validated by the
During training the volunteers will be expected to mentor a vulnerable young person or persons for at least one day each week. The mentoring will be structured and based on identified individual need relating to developing emotional literacy, life, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. We would hope to help a minimum of 30 young people aged between 13 and 17 during this time.
Project Manager Liza Russell has been delighted at the response from volunteers in the area who are enthusiastic not only about gaining new skills and a recognised qualification but by the challenge of helping disadvantaged young people in their local community.
